Hi, my name is Lee

I'm a fiddler from

San FrancisCO.

I started playing the violin when I was six years old and was taught a mix of tunes from Ireland, the British Isles, and the Americas. My parents and their friends always encouraged me to see music as a communal activity and at age ten, I started receiving more formal training with the San Francisco Girls Chorus. As a teenager, I played in all sorts of bands - Celtic, Latin, rock, Americana - and got to tour Southern Ireland with one of them. I earned a B.A. in Music with a focus on World Cultures from San Francisco State University, and have since continued to delve into a range of fiddling styles, including blues, Afro-Cuban, jazz, and Eastern European.

Currently, I'm a member of three groups - the Celtic rock band Tempest, the Scandinavian folk band Kaptain Bottletop, and the folk duo Adequate Evils, which plays a mix of Celtic and Eastern European traditional tunes. When it comes to music, I really believe it's important to find your own voice and to keep an open mind about exploring new styles and sounds.
